If you’ve been thinking about changing careers and have been searching for just the “right” one, here are some considerations that will help ensure that you make the right choice.
Action Step: On a sheet of paper, write down the reasons why you want to make a change. It doesn’t matter how big, how small or how insignificant the reasons may be, just get them down on paper. Identifying the reasons you want to make a change is critical because you don’t want those same negatives to be present in any new endeavor you might become involved in. Your reasons will be personal to you, but could include such things as…
Next, give each one a ‘Seriousness Score.’ Rate each reason on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being very serious, and 1being not that serious. You may find that a new job or career that you’re considering does have a couple of these issues, but if they’re not that serious you can take the view that it’s okay to proceed.
Of course I don’t know your own circumstances, but for an illustration I can tell you a few of the points that attract people to wanting to learn more about becoming a TopLine Consultant…
Action Step: Based on what you currently know, write down what you think is your ideal business. What does it look like? How does it operate? Where do you fit into it?
This step is critical, because if you don’t know what you want, it’s impossible to choose.

Action Step: Make sure to check out what others who are working in the same company or under the same system or program have to say. Don’t depend on what the owner, manager, or recruiter says, check out what the “users” of the system or the employees of the company say about working at the company or with the system.
Pay close attention to what they say. The TopLine system, for example, has been developed over a period of more than 45 years, and is based on the personal experience of TopLine’s Founder and CEO, Martin Howey. Martin has trained thousands of people from all kinds of backgrounds and experience to help other business owners grow their businesses and their profits, and enjoy VERY significant personal incomes in the process.
The TopLine website is filled with audio and video testimonials, comments, and success stories of those who have been through the TopLine training, and are currently using and profiting from the TopLine system.
The TopLine system is step-by-step, by-the-numbers, and almost impossible to fail with. The current market is ripe and waiting for the right person to provide the solutions and systems that will make a difference. TopLine consultants are trained to have the expertise and the ability to put themselves in front of business owners who are hungry for what they can do for them, and who are willing to pay the consultant’s asking price.
How much can you earn? It’s really up to the individual. Some consultants are hitting the six-figure income mark in their first 90 to 120 days. How, you ask? Just two clients paying a modest $60,000 per year (based on a retainer and commission structure) puts your income at $120,000. That’s not only doable, it’s VERY realistic.
Still skeptical? How about 5 clients paying the ridiculously low fee of $20,000? That’s still $100,000. And with all that you’ll learn in the TopLine system, the value you’ll bring to your clients, and the marketing and presentation tools that you’ll get in training, if you can’t get $20,000 from a client, you’re simply not paying attention. (Heck, if you can’t get $60,000, you’re probably asleep on the couch!)
I could have used any company, franchise, or business opportunity as an example, but I used TopLine as an example because that’s what I know best. But how about the company or opportunity you’re considering? What kinds of training do they provide, how quickly can you get up and running, what is the income potential, and how much are the employees (or users) making?
Action Step: Ask yourself these questions: Do you like to sell? Do you want to sell? If the answer is “Yes”, then the opportunity isn’t for you. Why? Because when you have to “sell” your services, it puts you in a very weak position. The prospect is in control. They can say yes or no to you, and that’s not where you want to be.
Much better to be positioned as a very busy expert who your prospects seek out because they know you are the ONE person who can help them solve, satisfy or eliminate the problems that are keeping them from having the business, income or time-freedom that they dreamed they could have when they first started out in business. The TopLine system, for example, helps position you as that expert… someone who has no equal in what you do… someone people will seek out and pay whatever you ask to get your help, advice and expertise.
Action Step: Write down what you consider to be not only a “good” income, but something that you believe to be realistic. Now double that amount and write it down. Now double it again. Does the opportunity the business or opportunity you’re considering have the potential to pay you that amount?
Chances are that the amount you finally came up with is well within reach as a TopLine consultant. It really doesn’t take much effort, much skill, or much marketing to be able to create a very substantial income when you have the right tools, the right knowledge and the right support.
But it’s not only about money. Sure, the money is nice, but money by itself isn’t (and shouldn’t) be the end goal. It’s what money will do for you that really matters. The most important thing in life are relationships… the bonds and associations you have with the people you love. Without time, it’s difficult to create meaningful relationships.
Busy people sometimes say that they may not spend “quantity” time with their kids, but the time they do spend is “quality” time. Who are they kidding? Kids know the difference between quality and quantity time. Sometimes just being with your children is enough. Even if it’s just watching a TV show or spending time on a walk. Quantity time and quality time are BOTH important to children… and to spouses and significant others.
And the way you get the time to create meaningful and long-lasting relationships is to “buy” that time. The more money you can make, the more time you can “buy”. That is, you can “buy” (or pay) others to do things for you so you don’t have to do them yourslf. And the more things you can get others to do for you, the more time you’ll have to do the things you want to do, when you want to do them, and not the things you have to do, when you have to do them.
Money-freedom allows you to have time-freedom. And time-freedom allows you to do things that other people who are working can’t do. Those things might include spending time with family, community service, politics, church activities, or just hanging out with people you like to be with. The point is to get as much money in as short a time as possible, with the least amount of risk and then use that money for things that really matter. And that’s what the entire TopLine program is about. Making you as financially secure as quickly as possible.
Action Step: Write down what you want to be doing in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years. Be very clear and specific. Now take a look at your present job or career. Will doing what you are currently doing enable you to achieve those goals? What about the new career you are considering? Will it enable you to realize those goals?
Many of TopLine’s consultants are on the 5 year or 8 year plan. That is, they want to work hard for 5 or 8 years and then be in a position to retire if they choose. Not that they will. They just want to have that option available to them. What about you? How long do you plan to work? And do you enjoy what you’re currently doing? Can you picture yourself doing that same thing for years to come? If not, you need to start planning what you’re going to do to change things. And now just might be the right time to do that.
