I just received an email from one of our TopLine-trained consultants. John was one of the toughest “nuts to crack” that I’ve ever dealt with in training. He sat in our training for four solid days practically expressionless and very seldom commenting on anything. I wasn’t sure if I was getting through to him or not.
But after he got back home he dug in, put all the pieces together and caught fire. He did exactly what we discussed in training and the clients came one right after another. We were on the phone quite often discussing various ways he could convert his prospects into clients and then work with these clients to generate massive amounts of profits for their businesses.
If you have children, you know what it’s like to see them grow, develop and accomplish things they never thought they could… and that’s exactly how I feel about John. He’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and always has a kind word when you speak with him.
I’d like to have you meet him… Here’s what he sent me, and you can listen to an interview I had with him some 7 years ago following his letter.
I wanted to take the time out of my day and thank you for everything you have done for me. I know we haven’t spoken in some time, but I always read your emails, get encouragement or wisdom out of them and have never taken the time to say thanks for everything you do.
October 26, 2006 – I spent almost a week at your training. I specifically remember sitting at the welcome dinner, looking around the room at everyone and wondering, “What the hell am I doing here?” As you probably remember, over the next 2 days, I just sat there observing, absorbing and not talking much. But I was fascinated with what I was hearing. I remember leaving each night and going back to my hotel room and reading over what we just went over that day.
I came back home and started right into it. We spoke a lot back then about different clients I was encountering or what I was doing, and I was actively participating in the weekly conference calls we had with the group.
Over the next year, I got involved with everything I could to get my name out. You told me to. I was voted Ambassador of the Year at the Chamber and had my name or picture in the paper every month for something. Just getting my name out like you told me to. All that networking paid off as I started to have a steady stream of referrals. To this day, I still have 6 clients that I got in 2007. I consider them family now.
Sometime around 2 years ago, I remember reading an email from you about the importance of family and taking the time to be around them. Last year, I set a goal and told my wife and kids that we are going to be taking 3 weeks of vacation this year. My wife thoughts I was nuts, because I generally work 24/7. Not because I have to, but because I like to. Last year, we went Skiing in Vermont, Relaxed in Jamaica and went swimming at the beach in Delaware. I’m not bragging here, but I wanted you to know. I took your advice again, and found family time. We had a blast everywhere we went.
My kids were starting pre-school yesterday and today the are in middle school. Time goes by too fast. Two weeks ago, as I was driving my son to a conditioning session for football, I realized that I was actually driving him to High School for the first time. He will be a freshman next year and they’re getting an early start on conditioning. I told him what was actual going on with me driving him to the HS and that I love him, but I’m having a real hard time with you growing up so quickly.
January 1, 2013 – Every New Year’s Day, I get up early and do my taxes. I always generally know where I am at, but I like to double check it. It’s sort of a ritual now and I enjoy it. Uncle Sam doesn’t see a penny from me until April, but I just like doing it. I reported $254,623.72 in income last year and I took 4 1/2 weeks vacation, all because of you.
My goal this year is 4 weeks family vacation. We skied in Vermont once already this year with another skiing trip in New Hampshire scheduled during spring break. All because of you!
I have been in business for myself now for over 6 years and haven’t regretted one moment of it. You gave me the tools and confidence to do it and I wanted to say THANK YOU! I couldn’t have succeed as well as I have without you.
Here’s the interview I did with John those 7 or so years ago. It’s about an hour long, but it will be well worth your time to listen to.
The same kinds of results that John has gotten can be yours. If you’re working too hard and too long for too little, please let me know. We can design an easy-to-follow plan that can get you to the 6-figure income mark in your first 90 to 120 days, just as John and so many other consultants have done.
